Human Remains Found in Suitcases Spark Manhunt Across London and Bristol
Police have uncovered more human remains in a flat in Shepherd’s Bush, west London, linked to a grisly suitcase discovery on Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge. Scotland Yard has named 24-year-old Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera as the prime suspect in the disturbing case.
Suspect Flees After Body Parts Discovered on Iconic Bridge
Mosquera remains on the run after the bodies of two men were found dismembered and stuffed into suitcases left on the Clifton Suspension Bridge late Wednesday. Police quickly traced the investigation to a flat on Scotts Road, Shepherd’s Bush, where additional remains believed to be from the same victims were found.
A 36-year-old man arrested earlier has since been released without charge. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said:
“This is a fast-moving enquiry with detectives in London and Bristol actively pursuing several lines of enquiry. Locating Yostin Andres Mosquera is the priority, and I appeal to anyone with information on his whereabouts to get in touch.”
Police Believe Suspect Knew Victims – Public Urged to Help
Authorities believe Mosquera was connected personally to both victims. The suspect, also known as a rugby fan, is thought to have carried out the murders and dismemberment in Shepherd’s Bush. A helicopter has been spotted circling the crime scene, while police maintain a tight cordon around bins beneath a nearby high-rise.
Assistant Bristol Commander Supt Vicks Hayward-Melen added:
“The discovery of human remains in two suitcases on the Clifton Suspension Bridge has caused shock and deep concern. Forensic post-mortems indicate the victims are two adult males.”
Witnesses Recall Suspicious Behavior and Police Response
Eyewitnesses saw two men struggling to carry the heavy suitcases across the road near the bridge. Giles Malone said:
“A man and another man got out of a car and were lifting these suitcases across the road, right by us.”
Local 85-year-old Anthony Priest remembered the early hours police rush: “I heard a police car with lights flashing — must have been about half past three.”
Police believe Mosquera travelled from London to Bristol Wednesday evening with the suitcases. Meanwhile, the public is warned not to approach the suspect if spotted but to call 999 immediately.
Ongoing Investigation – Clifton Suspension Bridge Remains Closed
The Metropolitan Police have taken over the case, deploying resources across both cities to track Mosquera down. The Clifton Suspension Bridge remains closed as forensic teams comb through evidence, including a taxi linked to the suspect.
Resident Michael Mulcahy voiced his horror:
“It’s horrific to think someone’s been chopped up and stuffed in a suitcase. The guy must have planned to dump them off the bridge, but those safety rails are very high — it would take serious effort.”
Police continue to appeal for any tips on the whereabouts of Yostin Andres Mosquera to aid their urgent manhunt.
