Murder Probe Launched in Leah Croucher Case After Police Find Key Items
Thames Valley Police have launched a murder investigation after discovering crucial evidence linked to missing Leah Croucher during a forensic search of a property in Milton Keynes.
Key Items Found in Milton Keynes Property
Specialist officers and forensic teams swooped on a house in Loxbeare Drive, Furzton, following information from a member of the public. Inside, they found a rucksack and personal belongings confirmed to be Leah’s — the teenager reported missing back in February 2019.
Complex Investigation and Police Statement
Detective Chief Superintendent Ian Hunter, Head of Crime at Thames Valley Police, said:
“Following a call to us on Monday, we attended an address and located items of concern within the property. We are dealing with a very difficult scene but can now confirm these items are linked to Leah, prompting a murder investigation led by our Major Crime Unit.”
He added: “Leah’s family have been kept updated and continue to be supported by officers. We urge the public and media not to speculate while the investigation is in its early stages.”
Years-Long Search Ends With New Lead
- Leah disappeared on 15 February 2019.
- Since then, Thames Valley Police have spent three and a half years searching.
- Officers reviewed 1,200 hours of CCTV and knocked on more than 4,000 doors.
- Several rewards were offered for information leading to Leah.
- The address searched on Monday was the first time police were alerted to this property.
Police confirmed they will maintain a strong presence at the scene while carrying out thorough inquiries.
“Our thoughts remain with Leah’s family and friends, and we will continue to offer them all the support they need,” added DCS Hunter.
