Chemical Scare Shuts Down Brighton Street
Emergency crews rushed to a property on Grand Parade, Brighton, around 11pm on Friday, August 23 after reports of a chemical incident involving ammonia. Firefighters, paramedics, and police flooded the scene to tackle the hazardous situation and evacuate the building.
Road Closures and Arrests
Authorities closed the road between Richmond Parade and Morley Street as a safety measure. Three people – two men and a woman who know each other – were arrested and taken for hospital treatment. A 32-year-old Brighton man has now been discharged from hospital but remains in custody, facing charges including grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage, and assault on an emergency worker.
Injuries Reported, but No Wider Danger
The other two suspects continue to receive medical care, though their injuries are not believed to be serious. Emergency services have since secured the scene and confirmed there is no ongoing risk to the public.
