Fuel Theft Foiled on the A2: Two Men Arrested in Midnight Sting
Kent Police’s Tactical Operations Unit struck gold in the early hours on Friday, October 21, 2022. Spotting a dodgy vehicle leaving a layby on the A2 near Canterbury at 1:45am, officers gave chase.
Big Haul of Stolen Diesel Seized
The vehicle was stopped near Shepherdswell, revealing a stash of what’s believed to be stolen fuel, along with hosepipes and canisters used for siphoning diesel. Two men, aged 29 and 19, were promptly arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody.
Police Link Fuel Haul to Earlier Diesel Theft
Just 20 minutes earlier, Kent Police had received reports of a major diesel theft from a lorry parked in a layby near Barham. Enquiries are ongoing to confirm if the recovered fuel is the same stolen from the lorry.
