Sex Pest Busted for Messaging Child Online Despite Court Order
Alan Morris, 65, formerly of Poundhurst Lane, Ruckinge near Ashford, was caught sending explicit messages and images to someone he thought was a child via an internet chat site in February 2024. He even sent videos of sexual content to his online victim.
Breached Sexual Harm Prevention Order
Morris’s sick behaviour broke a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposed on him in 2018 following previous convictions. The court order banned him from using the internet without approval and required his devices to have monitoring software installed.
Kent Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team Steps In
After a probe by Kent Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT), Morris was arrested on 8 February 2024. Officers found indecent images of children and evidence of recent sexual communication on his mobile phone. He was charged on the same day.
He Pleads Guilty, Lands Six Years Behind Bars
- Morris admitted to attempting sexual communication with a child.
- He pleaded guilty to two counts of making indecent images and distributing one.
- He also admitted trying to cause a girl to engage in sexual activity and to view sexual acts.
These offences dated back to October 2023, when Morris believed he was chatting with a child online.
On Monday 1 July, Canterbury Crown Court sentenced Morris to six years in prison, including a one-year term for breaching the SHPO. He will serve four years under licence on release.
Detective Warns Predators: We’re Watching
“The reason we push for Sexual Harm Prevention Orders is to protect children here and worldwide from abusers like Alan Morris,” said Detective Constable Barbara Zamorska of POLIT.
“Morris showed utter contempt for the court’s order and continued trying to lure teenage girls into sexual acts online.
“I hope this sentence sends a clear message: we will relentlessly hunt down offenders who use the internet to commit their vile crimes and make sure they face justice.”
