Range Rover Driver Arrested After 70mph Police Chase in West London
High-Speed Pursuit on New Kings Road
A daring Range Rover driver sparked a high-speed police chase through West London before being finally caught and arrested. The furious pursuit unfolded on Friday evening, March 29, as the vehicle sped along New Kings Road in Hammersmith and Fulham.
Despite two police motorbikes trying to pull him over, the driver ignored orders and hit speeds up to 70mph. The chase only ended when the driver reluctantly stopped.
Breath Test Failed, Suspect Detained
Once stopped, cops discovered the driver had failed a breath test, leading to immediate arrest. The Metropolitan Police’s West Road Policing Team (WestRPT) posted on social media: “WestRPT sighted a Range Rover travelling at 70mph down New Kings Road. He initially didn’t want to stop for our two motorbikes. We managed to stop him but he failed a breath 1. Arrested.”
This arrest is part of ongoing Met efforts to crack down on dangerous driving and enforce traffic laws across the capital.
River Thames Tragedy Shocks Thamesmead Community
In a heartbreaking separate incident, five-year-old Daniel Alaby was found dead in the River Thames after being reported missing from his home in Thamesmead. Officers located the boy during a river search and attempted CPR. Sadly, Daniel was pronounced dead at hospital.
The Met confirmed Daniel’s family has been informed and is receiving support. There are no current signs of third-party involvement.
Police Call for Witnesses
The Metropolitan Police continue to investigate both cases and have urged anyone with information to come forward to aid their enquiries.
