Deal Police Station Makes Major Service Boost
Deal residents can now get quicker, easier police help thanks to a new front counter in the town centre. Kent Police opened the new desk on Deal High Street at the Town Council offices on 10 March 2020, replacing the old London Road counter. The move slashes waiting times and boosts local access as part of Kent Police’s drive to stay efficient and effective.
Longer Hours, Better Access
The new front counter is staffed by a public enquiry officer for four hours daily, Monday to Friday – double the old service’s two-hour window. Located inside Deal Town Council’s offices, it also means police and council staff can work closer together for the community’s benefit. Importantly, they offer the same services as before but with extended hours from 10am to 2pm, excluding bank holidays.
Top Brass Vows More Local Support
Chief Constable Alan Pughsley said: “It is important residents know we remain committed to their local community. This is a great addition to Deal with increased service in the town centre.”
He added that new ways to contact Kent Police include online crime reporting, PCSOs’ local surgeries, and neighbourhood meetings – making police support more accessible than ever.
New Officers & Community Partnership
Deal is served by dedicated local officers, including a freshly appointed Town Centre PC, alongside PCSOs soon to be based at the London Road fire station. They collaborate closely with the council and partner agencies to keep Deal safe.
Residents can also visit the Walmer Sea Café drop-in centre on The Strand to get info on hate crime and community support schemes.
Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Scott said: “I’m delighted the Deal High Street front counter is up and running with longer hours and easier access. Recruitment of town centre officers and extra PCSOs will really boost policing in the area.”
