Fatal Smash on M2 Near Sittingbourne Sparks Police Appeal
Kent Police are hunting for witnesses after a deadly crash on the M2 near Sittingbourne.
Deadly Crash Details
The collision happened just before 1am on Monday 3 August 2020, on the Londonbound carriageway near junction 5. Two cars were involved—a blue Toyota Yaris and a black BMW 320D.
The driver of the Toyota, a 34-year-old man from Rochester, died instantly at the scene.
Man Arrested for Dangerous Driving
A 26-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody as police continue their investigation.
The M2 is still closed between junctions 6 and 5 while serious collision investigators comb the scene.
Police Seek Dash Cam Footage and Witnesses
Officers want dash cam footage from anyone driving on the M2 around the time of the crash, including footage from the opposite carriageway.
“We urge anyone with footage or information to contact us. Every bit helps to piece together what happened,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.
