About the Series: What to Expect
The new four-part drama, penned by acclaimed writer Jack Thorne (known for National Treasure and Help), will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Executive producers Joel Wilson and Jamie Campbell from Eleven are at the helm.
The gripping tale follows a group of boys stranded on a remote island. Ralph leads the group with Piggy’s brainpower, but trouble brews when Jack, entrusted with the signal fire, prioritises hunting and power. His rebellion pulls the boys into chaos, moving the story from hope to tragedy.
“Casting this is going to be a challenge because of the story’s complexity. We need exceptional young actors who can bring these unforgettable characters to life,” said Jack Thorne.
Casting director Nina Gold added, “I’m thrilled to find the perfect young talent to introduce these iconic roles to a new generation.”
Producer Joel Wilson said, “With Nina’s expertise, I’m confident we’ll cast extraordinary actors to do justice to this timeless story.”
Originally published by Faber, Lord of the Flies cemented William Golding’s reputation and won him the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1983. Now, this legendary story is set for a new era on screen.
This is an exciting opportunity for young boys across the UK to be part of TV history!
