Sixth Suspect Bailed After Toddler Shot in Head
Detectives probing a shocking Harlesden shooting that left a two-year-old boy fighting for life have made a sixth arrest. On Friday, 3 July, an 18-year-old man was held on suspicion of attempted murder. He was later bailed until early August as inquiries continue.
Toddler’s Narrow Escape After Gunman Opens Fire
Police rushed to Energen Close, Harlesden, just before 9.45pm on Wednesday, 3 June, after reports of shots fired. They found four victims with gunshot wounds, including the toddler and his mother.
The little boy was shot in the head and airlifted to hospital in critical condition. Miraculously, doctors revealed the bullet missed a vital artery by just 1mm — sparing his life. His condition is now steadily improving.
The boy’s mother and two teenage males sustained injuries but are not facing life-threatening conditions.
Gunman Targets Car Carrying Mother and Children
Authorities say a man with a handgun fired at one of the teenage boys before shooting into a car with the toddler, his mother, and a teenager inside. The mother was hit multiple times. Two other children in the car were unharmed.
The gunman fled the scene on a motorbike.
Earlier Arrests in Growing Investigation
- 19-year-old man arrested on 5 June for attempted murder, now bailed.
- On 12 June, four arrests made in Luton:
- 20-year-old man on four counts of attempted murder, released under investigation.
- 29, 23 and 36-year-old men arrested for assisting an offender, also released under investigation.
