Woman Killed After Car Smashes Into Building in Ilford

A woman tragically died after being hit by a car that crashed into a building on Eastern Avenue, Ilford, on Saturday afternoon (7 December 2024).

At around 4:10pm, officers from the Metropolitan Police, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, London Air Ambulance medics, and London Fire Brigade crews arrived at the shocking scene.

Despite frantic efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after 5pm. The victim, believed to have been out Christmas shopping and heading to see family, has not yet been named. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“At around 16.10hrs on Saturday, 7 December, police were called to reports of a car colliding with a pedestrian and a building in Eastern Avenue, Ilford,” the spokesperson said.

“Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics, London Air Ambulance medics and London Fire Brigade crews. The pedestrian, a woman, was treated at the scene but, despite best efforts, was pronounced dead shortly after 17:00hrs.

“Her next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been spoken to. They have not been arrested.

“A number of roads remain closed as officers carry out their investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, providing the reference 4459/07DEC.”
