Sussex Roads Hit by Massive Car Meet Mayhem
Sussex Police have slapped a Section 35 Dispersal Order on the county after around 200 vehicles caused chaos on the roads late Friday night (9 January).
200-Car Convoy Tears Through Sussex
The wild convoy first kicked off in Southdownview Way, Worthing, at around 9.15pm. Drivers then raced down Old Shoreham Road in Hove before speeding towards Peacehaven. Their reckless behaviour sparked serious concerns and a rapid police crackdown.
Police Crack Down with Tough Dispersal Order
Coming into effect at 10.15pm Friday and running until 10.14am Sunday, the dispersal order empowers officers to break up any vehicle gatherings across Sussex. Anyone flouting the order faces arrest.
Inspector Jim Bowen said: “We have implemented the order to prevent the public from being harassed and distressed and to prevent crime and disorder.
We take all reports of anti-social behaviour seriously and understand the impact it has on the community. There will be an increased police presence in the area to help keep people safe and respond to concerns raised.”
Residents Urged to Stay Vigilant and Report Trouble
Locals are encouraged to speak to police on patrol or ring 101 with any concerns. In emergencies, dial 999 immediately. Sussex Police remain on high alert to stamp out chaos and keep the roads safe.
