Teenager Fights Off Attempted Daytime Robbery in Southampton Park
A 19-year-old narrowly escaped a brazen daylight robbery in Southampton’s Peartree Common. The teen was strolling through the wooded area behind Bryanston Road when a man suddenly grabbed his rucksack from behind.
Victim Fights Back and Escapes
Reacting quickly, the victim spun around and raised his arms, forcing the attacker to release his grip. The teen darted off in the opposite direction, leaving the suspect empty-handed. During the scuffle, which took place between 1.30pm and 2pm on July 15, the teenager suffered a cut to his elbow.
Police Hunt Tall, Hoodie-Clad Suspect
Officers describe the suspect as a white male, about 6ft 1in tall with an average build. At the time, he wore a black hooded top with the hood up and loose-fitting baggy black jeans.
“Were you walking through Peartree Common that afternoon? Did you see a man matching this description run past? We want to speak to you,” said police investigator PSI Samira Hosseinmardi.
Call for Witnesses
PSI Hosseinmardi urged locals to stay alert and carry their belongings safely. “Carry bags in front of you and be aware of your surroundings,” she warned.
