Massive Cocaine Haul Seized in North London Sting
Police have made one of the UK’s biggest ever cocaine busts, netting around 2.3 tonnes of the drug worth a staggering £184 million. The seizure is part of a crackdown by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Metropolitan Police Service’s Organised Crime Partnership (OCP).
10 Men Arrested After Cocaine Delivery
Officers swooped on two industrial estates in North London on 18 February. Ten men, aged 21 to 56, were arrested as they took delivery of 41 pallets stuffed with cocaine. The pallets had arrived hidden inside a cargo container masquerading as bananas from Colombia. Border Force officers intercepted the container earlier at Portsmouth International Port on 14 February.
Five suspects were arrested in Tottenham, with the other five detained in Enfield. Three of the men have now been charged with importing Class A drugs. All remain in custody.
Authorities Praise Joint Operation
“This is a massive seizure which has denied organised criminals hundreds of millions in profits,” said John Coles, Head of Specialist Operations at the NCA. “Illegal drugs are a corrosive threat, and those involved in cocaine dealing are often violent and exploit vulnerable people. Cocaine supply fuels firearms and knife crime across the UK.” Detective Superintendent Simon Moring of the Metropolitan Police added: “This operation is a great example of partnership working between the Met, NCA, and Border Force. This seizure means these dangerous drugs cannot hit the streets of London and beyond. Tackling drug importation is key to reducing violent crime.”
Fighting Crime Through Partnership
The Organised Crime Partnership, a collaboration of NCA officers and Met detectives, has been battling drug networks for 17 years. Their mission is to cut off the flow of illegal drugs into London and disrupt the criminals making millions from them.
Thanks to the sharp eyes of Border Force and relentless police work, this colossal bust sends a clear message: the UK’s law enforcement will not tolerate drug importers and traffickers profiting at the expense of public safety.
