Horror crash on A5 in Hinckley kills three including two kids
Tragedy struck the A5 near Burbage, Hinckley yesterday afternoon when a silver BMW collided with a lorry, claiming three lives — including two children.
Fatal crash hits families hard
The smash happened around 4.30pm and saw an immediate emergency response. West Midlands Ambulance Service, East Midlands Ambulance Service, and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue all rushed to the scene.
Despite their efforts, a man in his 30s and a nine-year-old boy in the BMW were pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in her 30s and a four-year-old girl from the car were rushed to hospital for treatment. The lorry driver’s condition has not been disclosed.
Road closures and police probe launched
Emergency crews shut the road while they worked, reopening it just after midnight.
Detective Constable Anna Andrew from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“This is an extremely sad and tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the families and all those affected.”
She praised both emergency workers and members of the public who helped at the scene. Support remains ongoing for victims’ families as police dig deeper into the crash.
Police hunt witnesses and dashcam footage
Authorities urge anyone who saw the incident or either vehicle beforehand to come forward. They’re also appealing for dashcam footage that may shed light on what happened.
