Two Arrested After Black Audi Q7 Rampages Through West Sussex
Two suspects have been nabbed after a black Audi Q7 deliberately crashed into vehicles across West Sussex in a shocking spree of destruction.
Chaos on the Streets – Police Launch Major Hunt
Police were bombarded with reports on Saturday morning (21 January) of a black Audi Q7 smashing into cars in Walberton, Yapton, and nearby areas. A frantic search for the vehicle was launched.
By 7pm, officers found the Audi Q7 abandoned and torched in a field in Findon. West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service tipped off the police, who then moved in to gather evidence.
Suspects Traced and Arrested
- A 49-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, dangerous driving, and making threats to kill.
- A 36-year-old woman from Eastergate Lane, Walberton, was also detained. She faces charges including conspiracy, perverting the course of justice, and cannabis possession.
Both remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Police Praise Team Effort After Nerve-wracking Incident
Detective Chief Inspector Jo Grantham said: “Yesterday’s reckless incidents posed a serious threat to the public over a wide geographical area, resulting in a significant police operation.
“Thanks to the assistance from our colleagues in the fire service, we have been able to identify two suspects and safely bring them into custody.”
“I would like to commend all of the officers and staff involved for their response to what was a challenging series of events.”
