Two Arrested After Massive Brawl Outside Birmingham Mosque

Violent Disorder Erupts Near Small Heath Mosque

Police swooped on a violent fight outside Noor-Ul-Uloom mosque in Small Heath, Birmingham, after shocking footage emerged online. The clash involving a group of men broke out around 5.15pm on March 2, right at the corner of Sommerville Road and St Oswalds Road.

Suspects Held in Custody

West Midlands Police confirmed they arrested two suspects:

  • A 16-year-old boy on suspicion of violent disorder
  • A 29-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker

Both remain in police custody as investigations continue.

Police Insist Mosque Not Involved

Officers stressed the fracas has no links to the mosque itself. Chief Inspector Haroon Chughtai told reporters:

“After enquiring with community members and reviewing initial CCTV footage, we are confident this incident is not connected to the mosque.”

He added that reassurance patrols will be carried out to keep the peace in the area.

No Serious Injuries, No Ambulance Called

Despite the violent scenes, the West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were not called to the scene, and no serious injuries were reported.

Ongoing Probe and Call for Witnesses

Police are continuing to review CCTV and urge anyone with information about the brawl to call 101 quoting log 3086 of March 2. Witnesses can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
