Two 18-year-old men were arrested by armed officers following a brazen knife robbery in Castle Park, Colchester, on Sunday evening, 23 February 2025. The victim, a teenage boy, was threatened with a blade shortly after 6pm and forced to hand over a piece of jewellery. Thankfully, he escaped without any physical injury.

Police acted fast after the incident. Officers tracked the suspects near Colchester North train station as they boarded a London-bound train. Essex Police teamed up with British Transport Police, mounting a covert operation to keep passengers safe.
The chase ended in Shenfield, where armed officers moved in to arrest the pair during a scheduled stop. A thorough search uncovered the stolen jewellery and a large sum of cash linked to the robbery.
Investigation Underway – Police Claim No Wider Danger
Detective Inspector Tim Coyles praised the swift police response. “The two in custody had no idea of the operation going on around them until the arrest at Shenfield,” he said. “Thanks to the professionalism of our teams, the public was never at risk and two key arrests were made safely.”
