Man Stabbed to Death Outside Coventry Mosque in Shocking Late-Night Attack
Knife Fight Erupts Near Jamiah Masjid & Institute
Police rushed to the Jamiah Masjid & Institute, at the junction of Durbar Avenue and Queen Mary’s Road, just after 9pm following reports of a violent clash involving a large group of men, some armed with knives.
Officers discovered two injured men. A 52-year-old had been stabbed and tragically died despite emergency efforts. A second man, aged 44, was treated for a minor stab wound.
Two Arrests Made in Murder Probe
Armed police apprehended a 56-year-old man nearby shortly after the incident. The second suspect, aged 27, was arrested in the early hours of the morning. Both are now held on suspicion of murder.
Investigation Underway: Police Seek Witnesses
“We’re supporting the family of the man who has died at what is a truly awful time for them, and our thoughts go out to them,” said Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards.
“We’ve made some really good early progress in this investigation, but a lot of work remains to identify everyone involved. This appears to be an isolated dispute, not linked to other incidents in Coventry or the wider West Midlands.”
Police are urging anyone who was in the area to come forward, especially if they captured footage on mobile or dashcam. Officer patrols will increase to reassure the local community.
