Two Men Arrested After Midnight Weapons Attack at Haywards Heath Station
Chaos erupted just after midnight at Haywards Heath railway station when a violent altercation involving weapons took place. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Tuesday, 1 July, following reports of a brutal assault.
Two Men Hurt and Hospitalised
According to British Transport Police (BTP), two men were injured in the fight and taken to hospital. Luckily, their injuries were not life-threatening. BTP confirmed officers were called to the station shortly after 12am, where they found the scene unfolding.
Quick Arrests Made
One man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, while another was charged with affray. A crime scene was secured overnight as detectives began their investigation.
Rail Services Remain Largely Unaffected
Despite the violent incident, rail services at Haywards Heath faced only minor disruptions. Police are continuing their enquiries into what sparked the late-night brawl.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Haywards Heath station shortly after midnight on Tuesday 1 July following reports of an assault. Officers attended along with paramedics and two people were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. A man has been arrested for grievous bodily harm with intent. A second man was later arrested for affray.”
