Acid Attack Shocks London School: Two Pupils and Teacher Hospitalised
Westminster Academy in Paddington, west London, was rocked by a suspected acid attack on Monday afternoon. At around 4:40 pm, a corrosive substance was hurled at two schoolchildren and a teacher, leaving one girl with potentially life-changing injuries.
Victims in Hospital as Police Hunt Attacker
- A 14-year-old girl suffered severe injuries and remains in hospital.
- A 16-year-old boy was also hurt but his condition is stable.
- A 27-year-old female teacher was treated and released.
- Two police officers who attended the scene felt unwell and were checked out in hospital as a precaution.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed tests are under way to confirm the substance, which is believed to be acidic. Officers are urgently searching for the culprit responsible.
Westminster Academy Closes Doors Amid Investigation
In the wake of the attack, Westminster Academy announced it would close on Tuesday, 1st October. Lessons will switch online, with updates sent through Google Classroom. The school’s Year 6 Open Morning has been postponed until 8th October.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the WA school site will be closed on Tuesday, 1st October. Students will resume lessons through online learning. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding,” the school said.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The Met urged anyone with information to come forward. “Police on patrol were flagged down by staff after the incident on Alfred Road, W2. Multiple crime scenes have been set up as investigations continue,” said a spokesperson.
