Cheeky Thief Nabbed After Asking for Water – Then Swiping Shop’s Morning Cash!
A brazen young lad pulled a stunt that’s left shopkeepers fuming on the Isle of Wight. On Monday morning in Newport, the thief casually asked for a drink of water – then made off with the entire shop’s takings.
Blagged a Drink, Then Hit the Cash
The bold move unfolded inside a local business, where the crook simply walked in, sat down, and requested some water. Moments later, the owner spotted the morning’s earnings had vanished without a trace.
“The lad just came in to my business. He sat down and asked for a drink of water. Moments after he left, I realised my takings for the morning were gone. The bare-faced cheek,” said the shocked and upset chiropodist.
Police Spot The Thief Waiting Nearby
Officers were already on-site taking a statement from the shop manager when sharp-eyed cops spotted the culprit waiting just across the road. Sounds like he’s no stranger to this kind of caper.
After being tracked down, the man was arrested and is now cooling his heels in Newport Police Station.
Thief Gets Taste of His Own Medicine
In true tongue-in-cheek style, officers offered the crook some bread and water while he waits in custody – a fitting menu after his watery excuse for a distraction.
