Sussex Police Hunt Witnesses After Shocking Rustington Road Chase
Sussex Police are urging anyone who saw a terrifying car chase in Rustington on Saturday, January 6th, to come forward.
Blue Peugeot Rammed in High-Speed Pursuit
At around 9 pm, a man and woman driving a blue Peugeot reported being relentlessly chased by a grey Volkswagen Polo. The chase began on Station Road and sped into Abbotswood, where the Polo repeatedly rammed the Peugeot.
Violence Erupts as Suspect Strikes Victim’s Car Twice
The drama escalated when both cars stopped in Abbotswood. A man jumped out of the Volkswagen and punched the victims’ car before fleeing. The pursuit resumed, ending in Seafield Road, where the attacker again exited his vehicle and struck the Peugeot. The victims finally escaped and alerted police.
33-Year-Old Littlehampton Man Arrested
Officers quickly identified a suspect – a 33-year-old man from Littlehampton. He was arrested on suspicion of stalking and dangerous driving but has now been released on bail with strict conditions as the investigation continues.
Detective Inspector Ali Hutchings said: “This was a prolonged incident over a fairly large area that is likely to have been witnessed by a significant number of people.
“Anyone who saw the events of Saturday night, has relevant dashcam or doorbell footage, or has any information that could help, is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting serial 1136 of 06/01.”
