Police Appeal for Witnesses Following Serious Collision in Sturry

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage as they investigate a serious collision in Sturry, which left a moped rider with significant injuries.

Incident Details

The collision occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024. The driver of a blue BMW failed to stop for police when requested to do so in Broad Oak Road, Canterbury. Shortly after, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a moped on the A28 Mill Road, near the junction with High Street, Sturry.

The driver fled the scene following the crash.

Injuries and Arrest

The moped rider, a woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

On Tuesday, December 3, a 19-year-old man from Canterbury was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision. He remains in custody as investigations continue.

Appeal for Information

Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam, doorbell, or private CCTV footage from the area to come forward. They are particularly interested in any footage captured in the moments leading up to the collision along Broad Oak Road and Mill Road.
