Predatory Sexual Attacker Convicted In Birmingham

Dean Holness, a 38-year-old man hailing from Kings Norton, Birmingham, has been found guilty of a series of predatory sexual offenses, including multiple rapes, targeting two girls and two women. The abhorrent crimes occurred over a period spanning from Summer 2022 to Spring of the current year, leaving a trail of suffering and fear among the victims.

Holness, who exhibited no remorse throughout his trial, staunchly denied all charges during his arrest and subsequent interviews. However, justice prevailed as he was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday, October 17th. He now remains in custody pending his sentencing, scheduled for December 13th.

The conviction stands as a testament to the relentless efforts of the investigative team, led by Detective Constables Hannah Osborne, Christopher-Jadhav-Hiep, and Charlotte Broughton, along with their colleagues from the Public Protection Unit. The case required collaboration between specially trained officers from multiple units, who worked diligently to ensure justice for the survivors who exhibited tremendous courage in coming forward to report the attacks.

Detective Constable Charlotte Broughton expressed her gratitude toward the survivors, acknowledging the incredible bravery they displayed in sharing their stories and providing evidence throughout the investigation and trial. She stated, “Although we wish they had never had to endure such traumatic experiences, we hope that this conviction will assist in their healing process and bring some measure of closure to their lives.”

The verdict sends a powerful message that perpetrators of such heinous crimes will be held accountable for their actions. The survivors’ resilience in facing their abuser in court serves as a source of inspiration and underscores the importance of supporting survivors of sexual assault in their journey toward justice and recovery.
