A Bexley car thief, a Bromley drug dealer, and an Erith shoplifter are just some of the individuals from south east London who have been jailed this September. Also put behind bars were a man who vandalised a Lee Rigby memorial in Woolwich, a paedophile pastor, and an ex-Welling United footballer.

Here are the names and faces of the men who have been sentenced this month:
Said Aitabbou
Said Aitabbou, 25, from Charlton, vandalised a memorial for murdered soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich. He was sentenced to four months in jail for criminal damage. The 58-year-old was seen ripping up flowers, smashing plant pots, and throwing poppy wreaths at the memorial on July 28.
Local resident Connor Tuxford spotted Aitabbou being escorted away by police and took it upon himself to clean up the site afterward.
Thomas Siggers
Thomas Siggers, 30, from Sidcup, stole luxury vehicles from driveways across Bexley, Bromley, and Greenwich. Between October and January, despite wearing an ankle tag, Siggers stole at least eight cars using keyless entry technology. One of the stolen vehicles was later used in a shooting in Woolwich.
Siggers pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal motor vehicles, vehicle interference, affray, and theft, and was jailed for four years and ten months.
Kiernan Hughes-Mason
Kiernan Hughes-Mason, 32, a former Welling United footballer, was jailed for 14 years for grievous bodily harm with intent and child cruelty after violently attacking a two-year-old girl, leaving her with life-changing brain injuries. The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve 2020, and the child was placed in an induced coma for 14 days.
Neil Atkinson
Neil Atkinson, 41, who goes by the alias Neil Armstrong, stole over £1,400 worth of goods from various shops across Deptford, Brockley, Honour Oak, and Lee over the course of eight months. Atkinson was jailed for 38 weeks for repeated theft from local stores.
Aniekan Akpan
Aniekan Akpan, 47, a pastor at Christ Paradise Church near Old Kent Road, was found guilty of 12 offences related to the sexual abuse of a girl starting when she was just 10 years old. Judge Ian Darling described how Akpan subjected the victim to “all manner of touchings” and she remained silent out of fear.
Akpan, from Croydon, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
John Harris
John Harris, also known as John Harris Bolton, stole nearly £3,000 worth of goods from Boots in Greenwich soon after being released from prison. The 38-year-old was initially jailed for 37 weeks in April for thefts from BP stores but returned to stealing upon his release.
Harris has now been sentenced to an additional 16 weeks in jail.
Jack Wesley
Jack Wesley, 35, who recently moved to Feltham from Catford, has been jailed for ten weeks for breaching a court order. Wesley is a convicted sex offender who previously groomed and exploited young boys and has failed to comply with sex offender register notification requirements.
Malik Hutchinson
Malik Hutchinson, 21, of Highland Road, Bromley, was sentenced to four years in jail for drug offences. Police traced bulk drug-related messages to Hutchinson and recovered quantities of cocaine and cannabis, as well as a bag containing £3,000 in cash and multiple mobil
Martin Jackson
Martin Jackson, 40, from Erith, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after being found guilty of 98 offences, including theft and violating a restraining order. Jackson stole over £14,100 worth of goods from shops despite a Criminal Behaviour Order preventing him from entering specific locations.
Joel Victorious
Joel Victorious, 51, of Waleran Flats, Southwark, was sentenced to life imprisonment for attacking a woman with a hammer and threatening her with knives in front of her children. The incident took place in October 2023, and police arrived on the scene to find the victim collapsed in the street with life-threatening injuries.
Victorious was charged with attempted murder and sentenced at the Old Bailey.
