Huge Blaze Hits Exclusive Cadogan Square in Belgravia
A massive fire tore through a flat in the posh Cadogan Square, Belgravia, forcing the London Fire Brigade to scramble 12 fire engines and around 80 firefighters to the scene. The blaze broke out just after 1.45pm on January 12, 2024, throwing this upmarket London neighbourhood into chaos.
Firefighters Battle Blazing Roof for Hours
The fire ignited in the mansard roof of a mid-terraced block of flats. Around 15 residents managed to escape before firefighters arrived. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. The Brigade received 22 emergency calls from concerned locals as they raced to the scene.
Station Commander Matt Cole said: “The fire was in the roof space of the building and crews worked incredibly hard to bring it under control. One of our 32-metre turntable ladders was used to douse the flames from above.”
He added: “Cadogan Square is currently closed with severe delays. We urge everyone to avoid the area. While the fire is under control, crews will remain on site throughout the evening.”
Emergency Services Respond Swiftly
Fire units from Soho, Lambeth, Chelsea, and nearby stations teamed up to tackle the inferno, which was brought under control by 4.32pm. The swift, coordinated response highlights the Brigade’s commitment to protecting London’s most high-profile locales.
