Hornchurch Chemical Scare Triggers Mass Evacuation

Emergency services sprang into action after reports of a chemical smell at a disused science lab on Inskip Drive, Hornchurch, this afternoon.

Massive Fire Response and Safety Measures

  • Two fire engines and two fire rescue units rushed to the scene.
  • Over 20 firefighters and officers tackled the potential hazard.
  • A safety cordon was quickly set up to protect the public.
  • Around 150 people were evacuated as a precaution.

Incident Resolved Without Injuries

The Brigade was called just before 1.30pm and declared the area safe shortly before 5pm on Tuesday. Crews from both Hornchurch and Dagenham joined forces at the scene.

Thankfully, there are no reports of injuries following the chemical scare.
