Early Morning Blaze Hits Blackwall Tunnel

Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters raced to tackle a fire in the Blackwall Tunnel, Greenwich, early this morning (27 April).

Electrical Fault Sparks Cable Tunnel Fire

The blaze damaged a small section of the cable tunnel in the Northern Approach after on-site engineers were testing the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Firefighters Bring Flames Under Control in Two Hours

The fire is thought to have started accidentally due to an electrical fault. The Brigade was alerted at 4:06 AM and had the situation under control by 6:03 AM.

Crews from East Greenwich, Poplar, Millwall, and Deptford fire stations all joined the emergency response.
