A massive grass fire erupted at Barton Point Coastal Park after two model aircraft carrying fireworks sparked the blaze. The fire quickly spread across a large grass area, causing chaos and thick smoke.

Smoke billowing from the fire forced firefighters to warn residents near Marine Parade in Sheerness to keep windows and doors shut to avoid inhaling the hazardous fumes.
Huge Firefighting Effort Underway
- Kent Fire and Rescue Service deployed five fire engines, a fogging unit, and an all-terrain vehicle to tackle the inferno.
- Crews battled the fire using hose reel jets and beaters across an area measuring roughly 400m by 250m.

Fire Rages Underground, Specialists Called In
The fire continues to smoulder underground, with temperatures soaring above 150 degrees. Firefighters are expected to remain on site for hours. Technical rescue experts have been brought in, using thermal imaging cameras mounted on drones to pinpoint hidden hot spots and prevent further flare-ups.
