From Arrest to Inspiration: Mick’s Story
What began as a quick cuppa turned into an arrest for “bad dad dancing,” courtesy of the friendly Hampshire Roads Policing Unit — Mick’s second run-in with them this trip. But this is just a blip on his inspiring journey.
“For a long time, I was in need of that very same help and support that I am now offering to others,” Mick revealed. “I have been the homeless person you see in the shop doorway, the addict, the alcoholic, the hopeless case that had made so many bad decisions that there was surely no way back.”
“I made these terrible decisions in my life in order to block out the pain I was feeling inside…”
“I had become isolated from society, alienated from my family, and left with nothing to contribute to my community. I blamed everyone else for the position I was in and lost sight of the compassionate and caring person I hoped to be.”
“Despite being given up on by family and friends frustrated by failed attempts to help, I finally accepted support and found the flicker of hope I needed to change.”
“As a child, I was never guided and often encouraged to be naughty just to get attention. This bad behaviour followed me into adulthood, costing me my home, family, friends, dignity, and pride.”
