Major Rescue Operation Underway Off Isle of Wight Coast

A massive search is underway between Cowes and Yarmouth for a missing male swimmer. The alarm was raised around 3.30pm after he was spotted struggling in the water near the Royal Yacht Squadron, about 400 metres offshore, drifting towards Gurnard Bay.

Coastguard, Lifeboats, and Rescue Teams Join Forces

Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 is scouring the area from above, while Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge, Ventnor, and The Needles comb the coastline below. The Cowes RNLI lifeboat is also on the scene, working alongside police and WightSAR volunteer search teams.
