Tragic Blaze Destroys Barking Horse Stable

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to a blazing stable on Jenkins Lane, Barking last night.

Fire Tears Through Stable and Outbuilding

The single-storey stable was gutted, with part of a nearby outbuilding also damaged. Firefighters in breathing apparatus heroically rescued one cat and led 10 horses to safety.

Animal Death Toll Mounts

Tragically, two horses, two pigs, and four piglets lost their lives in the inferno. Two other horses needed urgent veterinary care from the RSPCA at the scene.

Quick Response Keeps Fire in Check

• The London Fire Brigade received 22 emergency calls about the fire.
• The alarm was raised at 6.19pm, and crews had the blaze under control by 8.02pm.
• Firefighters from East Ham, Barking, Plaistow, Stratford, and Poplar stations battled the flames.
• The cause has been confirmed as accidental.
