Evening Bus Service Cut Early After Dangerous Attacks in Gravesend

Arriva has slammed the brakes on its evening Route 482 bus service between Gravesend and Kings Farm. The move comes after a string of alarming attacks where objects were hurled at buses — one smashing a window and showering glass over a small child in a buggy.

Shocking Incident Leads to Early Evening Cuts

The latest episode left passengers rattled. A thrown object shattered a bus window, sending glass shards flying inside. Miraculously, the toddler was uninjured, but the horror has forced Arriva to pull the plug on evening journeys for now.

  • Weekends: Last bus from Gravesend 5:35pm

Safety Comes First, Says Arriva

An Arriva spokesperson said:

“This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, and we understand the inconvenience this may cause to our customers. However, the safety of our customers and drivers must come first.”

They’re working closely with Kent Police to catch those responsible for these reckless attacks.

Could Evening Buses Be Axed Forever?

Though officially a temporary measure, Arriva warns that if attacks continue, evening services on Route 482 could be scrapped for good. The company hopes to restore full service by Sunday, 4 May — but the threat hangs heavy.

Locals Outraged and Worried

The community is up in arms. Evening commuters, students and vulnerable passengers face disruption, while safety fears grow.

“It’s terrifying to think that a child could be hurt just riding a bus. But cutting off service early is going to make life very hard for families who rely on it,” said one local parent.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Kent Police urge anyone with info, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to step forward. Tips can be given anonymously via Crimestoppers.
