Hull Shopping Centre Evacuated Over Suspicious Package

Hull city centre is in lockdown tonight after police found a suspicious package at St Stephen’s Shopping Centre, sparking a major security alert.

Emergency Response in Full Swing

Humberside Police were called to Ferensway just after 6:20PM Tuesday following reports of a potentially dangerous item inside the busy shopping hub. A 200-metre cordon now blocks off the area, including Hull Paragon Interchange, as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team moves in to investigate.

Shoppers Evacuated, Roads Sealed Off

As a safety precaution, officers evacuated everyone from the shopping centre and urged the public to avoid the area. A police spokesperson said:

“We have put road closures in place on Ferensway, Anlaby Road, and Spencer Street to allow emergency services to work safely.”

Images from the scene show police standing firm behind cordons, with patrol cars blocking key city centre routes. One eyewitness described the evacuation as “swift but calm,” with shoppers and commuters quickly escorted out.

Investigation Ongoing, No Injuries Reported

The package’s contents remain unknown but police are treating the threat with extreme caution. So far, no injuries have been reported. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the bomb squad continues its assessment.
