Bank Holiday Weather: Sunshine or Showers?
Everyone’s asking: what’s the weather going to do this bank holiday weekend?
Across the three days, parts of the UK will enjoy dry, bright, and even warm spells. But beware – slow-moving, heavy showers could drench some areas and cause local chaos.
Showers Set to Soak Some Regions
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert warns: “Temperatures are climbing after a chilly start to the week. Warm air from the North Atlantic brings moisture, triggering showers and low clouds, especially along coasts. With light winds, the showers will be slow-moving, leading to heavy downpours with hail and thunder at times.”
Saturday’s worst-hit zones are Northern Ireland, northeast Wales, and central England. Sunday will see showers spreading wider, though central and southeast England should stay mostly dry. By Monday, the west will dry out while eastern regions face more showers.
Scotland Cools Before Warming Up
Despite rising temperatures in the south and west, Scotland faces another chilly Saturday, only warming to average levels on Sunday and Monday.
Next Week’s Forecast: Calm Before the Storm?
The start of next week looks dominated by high pressure – fewer showers, settled weather. But by midweek, low pressure may swing in from the southwest, bringing mixier skies. Southern areas could see temps hit the low 20s Celsius, but heavy, potentially thundery showers could spoil the fun.
Heads Up for Coronation Weekend
Planning for the Coronation celebrations next weekend? Forecasts are still iffy this far ahead. Expect a patchy mix of sunshine and showers. Best keep checking for updates before heading out.
