An EasyJet flight from London Gatwick to Malta was forced to declare an emergency and divert to Lyon on Monday, June 17, 2024. Flight EZY8761, originally delayed by an hour due to air traffic hold-ups, made a dramatic mid-journey change.

While cruising at 37,000 feet, the Airbus A319, registered G-EZFV, hit trouble. The crew declared an emergency and requested an immediate diversion. The plane safely touched down at Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport.

Passenger Needs Urgent Medical Help

An EasyJet spokesperson confirmed: “Flight EZY8761 from London Gatwick to Malta diverted to Lyon due to a passenger onboard requiring urgent medical assistance. The passenger was met at Lyon by medical services, and the flight continued to Malta.”
