Bomb Alert at Medmerry Beach: Coastguard Teams Secure Explosive Threat
The Selsey Coastguard team sprang into action at 12:06 PM on April 3, 2024, after reports of potential ordnance on Medmerry Beach. They quickly located the suspicious device and found additional dangerous fragments during a thorough search.
Beach Locked Down for Controlled Explosion
Images of the discovered explosives were sent straight to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (E.O.D) Team. Authorities closed off the area, keeping beachgoers well away. At 5:00 PM, the E.O.D team carried out a controlled detonation to neutralise the threat.
Coastguard Wrap Up After Safe Blast
With the danger cleared, the coastguard wrapped up operations and left the scene by 5:45 PM, reopening the beach for the public.
