Gas Explosion Rocks Blackpool Guest House – Pregnant Woman Trapped
Emergency services rushed to a gas explosion in Blackpool last night that left a pregnant woman trapped and several others injured.
Blast Hits Charles Street Guest House
The explosion happened around 5:55pm on Saturday, 23 September at a guest house on Charles Street. Police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue, and ambulance crews were quickly on the scene.
Paramedics treated multiple people on site. Two injured victims were rushed to hospital. Witnesses say the entire back of the guest house was blown out, with windows smashed and glass scattered across the street.
Pregnant Woman Remains Trapped
“I don’t think it’s looking good for the old lady,” said local resident Aimee Barrow, whose mum lives on the affected road. “She was in the kitchen when it exploded.”
Emergency crews have been working to free the pregnant woman caught in the wreckage.
Safety Cordons and Evacuations Underway
A safety cordon surrounds the area, with residents evacuated from Charles Street and nearby Milbourne Street. Road closures are in effect on Cookson Street and Grosvenor Street. Authorities advise avoiding the area.
Displaced residents can find shelter and refreshments at the Salvation Army Citadel on Raikes Parade or St John’s Church on Church Street.
