Fire Rips Through Two Shops in Shocking Blaze
A fierce fire damaged two single-storey shops in the same building, sending around 10 people fleeing before firefighters arrived. Luckily, no one was hurt in the chaos.
Discarded Cigarette Blamed for Fire
The London Fire Brigade’s investigators say the blaze was accidental, sparked by a discarded cigarette. A spokesperson explained, “The fire originated in waste material stored at the front of the building.”
Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire that had quickly spread into both shops. The waste included cardboard packaging, which helped fuel the flames.
Firefighters Urge Smokers to Be Careful
“If you’re a smoker, it’s vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you’ve finished smoking it. Make sure smoking materials are cold before emptying ashtrays. Preferably wet stubs before throwing them into a bin.”
The Brigade was called at 10.24am and had the fire under control by 11.18am. Four engines and around 25 firefighters from Southall, Ealing, and Hillingdon rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.
