Roof Crashes Onto First Floor

Firefighters rushed to George Lane, South Woodford, after a shop roof gave way during renovation, collapsing onto the first floor. The dramatic crash caused panic but thankfully no one was hurt.

Neighbours Evacuated as Precaution

Two people managed to flee the building before emergency teams arrived. Fire crews swiftly evacuated 11 nearby residents to keep everyone out of harm’s way. No serious injuries were reported.

One Woman Treated for Shock

London Ambulance Service treated a woman for shock on the scene. Fire Station Commander Shaun Fox said:

“The roof of the building collapsed into the first floor. Our Urban Search and Rescue crews were on scene and a 25m cordon was put in place as a precaution.”

A police search dog conducted a thorough external sweep, confirming no one was trapped inside.
