Emergency Landing Drama as Flybe Plane Touches Down Without Nose Gear at Belfast Airport

A Flybe plane pulled off a nail-biting emergency landing at Belfast Airport after losing its front nose gear mid-flight. The aircraft spent two tense hours circling, burning fuel to lighten the load before finally touching down safely – minus its nose wheel.

Two Hours in the Air Before Daring Landing

The Bombardier Dash 8, carrying up to 78 passengers, took off from Belfast International at 11:20am on Friday morning. Shortly after, the pilot spotted a problem with the nose gear and declared an emergency.

Rather than land straight away, the pilot kept the plane in the air for nearly two hours to burn fuel and reduce the plane’s weight. At 1:43pm, the aircraft landed smoothly – but with the nose gear up – on the main runway.

Runway Closed as Emergency Crews Respond

Following the landing, Runway 25 was shut down while emergency teams rushed to attend to the aircraft. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far, but the situation remains under investigation.

Flybe Issues Statement Amid Ongoing Inquiry

“We are aware of an incident involving one of our aircraft. We are getting more information and will provide further updates as soon as we can,” said Flybe.

Officials at Belfast Airport confirmed the runway closure and response from emergency services but have yet to release detailed information. The daring touchdown showcased the pilot’s skill in a high-pressure situation.
