Tragic Mid-Air Crash Over Buckinghamshire Claims Four Lives
Grim scenes at Buckinghamshire after a mid-air collision on Friday, November 18th, has left four dead, including one of Britain’s top helicopter instructors. Emergency crews rushed to Waddesdon Manor near Aylesbury at 12:06pm, but foul weather is slowing the investigation.
Captain Mike Green: A Legend of the Skies
Among the victims is Captain Mike Green, a respected aviation veteran with over 30 years flying experience. A senior instructor with Helicopter Services, Mike was known as a true gentleman of the skies who never took unnecessary risks. He was piloting a barely three-month-old Guimbal G2 helicopter, registered Valentine’s Day 2022, when tragedy struck.
“It’s a terrible loss. Mike was one of the best and most experienced instructors we had. We are all in shock,” said an aviation source who asked not to be named.
Young Student Pilot Also Among Dead
The other aircraft involved was a Cessna 152 carrying student pilot Saavan Mundae, just 18 years old. Saavan, a Bucks New University student studying Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training, had only been flying for nine weeks. Fellow students described the news as heartbreaking.
“We are all gutted and cut up about it,” said one peer.
AAIB Launches Probe Amid Bad Weather
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has dispatched teams to piece together how the collision happened. However, poor weather conditions at the crash site near Waddesdon are hampering efforts.
