Huge Scrap Metal Blaze Lights Up the Sky
A towering pile of scrap metal caught fire in the open air, sending thick smoke billowing into the sky. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
Firefighters Battle Blazing Scrap Heap
Station Commander Mike Dowden, first on the scene, revealed: “The fire was producing a large plume of smoke, which has now subsided.”
Using an on-site mechanical digger, crews turned over the burning metal to reach stubborn hotspots and bring the flames under control.
Rapid Response from Four Fire Stations
The brigade was called out at 4:40am and had the fire under control by 7:57am. Firefighters from croydon/" title="Croydon" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Croydon, Norbury, Mitcham, and Wallington rushed in to tackle the blaze.
Officials are now probing what sparked the fiery metal meltdown.
