Chaos at Gatwick as Emirates A380 Emergency Halts Flights
Gatwick Airport faced flight chaos on Tuesday evening after an Emirates Airbus A380-842 (registration A6-EUN) hit trouble on approach. The giant plane aborted its landing, sparking a temporary shutdown of all operations that forced several flights to divert, mostly to London Luton Airport.
Emergency Landing and Runway Standstill
Eyewitnesses say the Emirates A380 circled Gatwick four times before finally touching down safely. Yet it couldn’t move forward and came to a halt at the runway’s end. Passengers were told to wait 20 minutes for an engineer to arrive and check the plane.
A relative of a passenger revealed: “The aircraft struggled to manoeuvre and had to circle several times before landing.” The airport held all flights as a precaution, leading to delays and rerouted aircraft.
Passengers Patient as Engineers Work to Fix Issue
Those onboard remained calm while airport and Emirates teams worked together to solve the mystery technical fault. Neither Gatwick nor Emirates have revealed what exactly went wrong yet, but investigations are underway to prevent repeats.
Gatwick, one of the UK’s busiest airports, assured travellers that safety comes first—even if it means disruption. Authorities urged passengers to check live updates from airlines and airport channels for flight info and alternatives.
Normal Service Expected to Resume Soon
As engineers attend the stranded Airbus, Gatwick operations are slowly getting back on track. Passengers are advised to stay patient and cooperate with staff to speed up the process.
Both Gatwick Airport and Emirates stressed their commitment to passenger safety and vowed swift action to clear the disruption.
