A huge fire involving a lorry has forced the complete closure of the M20 between Junction 10A (Ashford) and Junction 11 (Westenhanger). The blaze has sparked major traffic chaos, with emergency crews rushing to the scene and helicopters now hovering overhead as they battle the intense flames.
Traffic Nightmare Expected to Last Hours
Motorists trapped in the tailbacks say the closure looks set to drag on for several hours. One witness, stuck in the standstill, told us there’s no telling when the road will reopen. Drivers are being told to steer clear if possible.
Official Diversions and Travel Advice
Kent Fire & Rescue and Kent Police have been contacted but emergency services remain focused on containing the fire. National Highways has put in place a diversion for eastbound traffic. Drivers should:
- Exit M20 at Junction 10
- Follow the hollow circle signs along the A20 towards Folkestone
- Rejoin M20 at Junction 11
