Deadly Explosion Rocks Madrid Bar: One Killed, 25 Injured
A horrific blast tore through the ‘Mis Tesoros’ bar in Madrid on Saturday afternoon, leaving one dead and at least 25 injured. The explosion struck around 3 p.m. in the Puente de Vallecas district, throwing the local community into shock.
Rescue Teams Race to Save Lives
Emergency crews worked through the night, pulling four survivors from the rubble. Sadly, they also found a man’s body early Sunday. Madrid’s Emergency Services confirmed two victims are in critical condition, with three others listed as potentially serious.
“Four people were rescued alive from the rubble,” said Firefighter Chief Javier Romero.
Gas Leak Suspected but Investigation Continues
Initial reports suggest a gas leak sparked the explosion, but officials warn the cause is not yet confirmed. Carlos Marin, head of Madrid’s Fire Department, said it was a gas explosion but the exact details remain unclear. Deputy Mayor Inmaculada Sanz added, “It is still too early to predict what the cause of the explosion could have been.”
Building Declared Unsafe – Residents Forced Out
The blast left the structure unstable, forcing the evacuation of nine residential units. Some upper flats remain intact, but no one can enter the building due to damage at the entrance. Carlos Marin confirmed residents will be rehoused for at least several days as safety checks continue.
