Massive Blaze Rips Through Garages on Bourne Road, Maidstone
A huge fire has erupted on Bourne Road in Maidstone, triggering a major emergency response and forcing the road to shut in both directions.
Garages and Outbuildings Totally Destroyed
The fire broke out shortly after 6pm, rapidly engulfing several garages and outbuildings. Dense black smoke poured into the sky, visible for miles around.
Witnesses reported seeing the thick smoke all the way from Detling Hill, highlighting the scale of the blaze.
Road Closure and Safety Warnings
The road remains closed as emergency crews work to extinguish hot spots and investigate what sparked the fire. Residents nearby have been urged to stay away and keep windows and doors shut due to heavy smoke in the area.
No Serious Injuries Reported
Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed the outbuildings were completely destroyed. Thankfully, there are no reports of serious injuries, though some individuals were assessed at the scene as a precaution.
A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said, “The cause of the fire is still under investigation. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.”
