Emergency Services Launch Midnight Rescue at Limehouse Basin
Police, fire crews, and search teams sprang into action around midnight on Sunday, December 4th, after reports of a person jumping into the water at Limehouse Basin, East London.
Massive Multi-Agency Search Underway
The drama unfolded near Canning Town, where emergency services received a tip-off about someone in the canal. Within minutes, two fire engines, the London Fire Brigade’s specialist search and rescue unit (FRU) with a boat, and the rescue boat Fire One were at the scene.
Met Police officers and the RNLI joined the frantic search operation, combing the water and surrounding areas.
High-Tech Helicopter Assists Scare
To intensify the hunt, the National Police Air Service (NPAS) deployed a helicopter equipped with FLIR thermal imaging and a powerful night searchlight. It scanned the water from above, aiding rescuers on the ground in their desperate bid to find the Missing Person" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">missing person.
