Morrisons Brings Back Brown Paper Bags to Slash Plastic Waste
Morrisons is ditching plastic and reviving old-school brown paper bags for loose fruit and veg. The supermarket aims to cut a whopping 150 million single-use plastic bags every year with this eco-friendly move.
Brown Paper Bags Roll Out Nationwide
The new 100% recyclable brown paper bags are being introduced right now and will hit every Morrisons store by the end of summer. They come with a clever see-through paper strip so shoppers and staff can easily spot what’s inside.
One Size Fits All for Fresh Produce
The bags are designed to handle any loose fruit, veg, or salad. You’ll find them conveniently stocked in dispensers at the corner of each fruit and veg section, making it a breeze to grab one while shopping.
Morrisons Listens to Customer Concerns
“We’ve listened to customers’ concerns about using plastic bags for fruit and vegetables, and that is why we are bringing back paper bags,” said Drew Kirk, Fruit and Veg Director at Morrisons. “There’s more to do, but this step will mean we prevent 150 million bags from being used in our stores every year.”
This move puts Morrisons at the forefront of green shopping trends, helping customers shop smarter and cleaner.
